It's Red Cross Week between 6-13 May. This is a week in which we celebrate the charitable work of the Red Cross both here in the UK and overseas.
The Red Cross is a charity that works to help people in crisis all over the world. The organisation offers support in a diverse variety of ways, from emergency help and medical support in times of crisis such as war, terrorism or natural disaster to helping those dealing with loneliness and supporting victims of modern slavery and trafficking.
Red Cross Week is the charity's biggest fundraising and awareness campaign of the year. For further information about local events and how to get more involved can be found at www.redcross.org.uk.
Whilst we are all familiar with Red Cross as an organisation, were you aware that Citizens Advice Portsmouth and the British Red Cross have a long-standing collaborative partnership supporting the migrant, asylum seeker and immigrant communities in the Portsmouth area?
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, our partnership with the Red Cross has enabled our specialist immigration team at Citizens Advice Portsmouth to provide much needed advice and support to almost 2000 clients and their families since the inception of our service in 2018.
CAP will always endeavour to provide information, guidance and advice to help our clients access statutory support through casework, supporting them to gain a greater knowledge and understanding of their legal rights and entitlements.
We will look to prevent destitution through provision of information on Refugee Asylum Seekers and Vulnerable Migrant rights and entitlements.
Our immigration team is going from strength to strength – look out for exciting news in the coming months!
